New Legislation- Cannabis Consumption in Nevada
June 2021- Nevada has new legislation for Cannabis Consumption- Pot Lounges
The new legislation is expected to pass in Nevada. It would legalize consumption of cannabis in places other than on private property. The current laws allow for consumption in personal residence. But does not allow consumption in public. New legislation would change that. The bill passed the state assembly and is pending in the senate. We should hear soon about cannabis lounges and the legalization of pot lounges and cannabis facilities in Nevada.
Nevada Cannabis Facilities
Currently there are 5 types of medical cannabis establishments in Nevada. Pending 2021 legislation may allow for consumption in lounges.
The 5 Cannabis Facility types are:
- Cannabis Sales Facility
- Cannabis Cultivation Facility
- Cannabis Production Facility
- Cannabis Distributor
- Independent Testing Laboratory
Two Types of Cannabis Facilities are under licensing consideration:
- Retail Cannabis Consumption Lounges
- Independent Cannabis Consumption Lounges

Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board & Cannabis Advisory Commission
Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board (CCB)– Assembly Bill 533 established the CCB during the 2019 legislative session and was signed into law by Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak.
Cannabis Advisory Commission- AB 533 also established the Cannabis Advisory Commission (CAC) which serves to study cannabis-related issues and make recommendations to the CCB.
The Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board governs Nevada’s cannabis industry. Through strict regulation of all areas of its licensing and operations, protecting the public health and safety of our citizens and visitors while holding cannabis licensees to the highest ethical standards.
