Self Love

You may be asking, what is self love?

“Self love is asking yourself what you need – everyday – and then making sure you receive it.” – Unknown.

First you must ask.

If you were to ask yourself what you need, how would you answer? Maybe it’s a good 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Or an extra 10 minutes in the morning to sit on the patio and enjoy a cup of coffee. Maybe its 45 minutes of swimming laps in the pool. Maybe it’s occasionally making time to watch a movie. It looks different for a lot of people.  For me, there’s nothing like taking the time to relax and wash away the worries of the day while soaking in a luxurious bathtub.

The tricky part is making time-everyday.

Once you decide what you need, now it’s time to take action. Setting aside the time is usually where people fall short in the area of self love. It’s often difficult to find time for ourselves because we consider it selfish. I urge you to think differently and think of it as a necessity. Benjamin Franklin once said “When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water.” Don’t allow yourself to run dry. Schedule the necessary time to refresh so you can be the best person you were meant to be.

Who schedules time for themselves? Healthy people that want to keep their tanks full, that’s who. Adding the time to your calendar and even setting a reminder will mentally prepare you and assure the time is there when you commit to yourself. Would you break a promise you made to a child? No, so don’t break a promise to your inner child. The relationship you have with yourself is what sets the stage for the rest of the relationships in your life.  Make the time for self care and self love.

Give and you will receive.

Have you ever given someone a gift? What happened? Their eyes light up. They smile. Their heart fills full with gratitude.  When you give, you also receive. The act of giving helps fill our love buckets. Giving yourself the gift of self love allows you to rejuvenate and replenish for the upcoming day. Making sure you receive this gift (to yourself) is no different than making sure you’re Amazon prime order is delivered.

At SCA Design, we specialize in creating these self love environments, because we know it’s important to keep our buckets full, while ensuring we are not hanging ourselves out to dry. Take a look at our design portfolio to see some of most recent projects.
