The Shade Tree Medical Clinic Expansion

Las Vegas Architect Sheldon Colen of SCA Design architectural firm donated his firm’s services to The Shade Tree project. SCA Design was responsible for the construction documents. The newly expanded Shade Tree Medical Clinic is ran through Stallman-Touro University, Nevada. SCA Design’s Project Manager, Danielle Vickerman, worked closely with the team at Tutor Perini. The project was $500,000.00 and was completely funded through donated funds and services.

Stallman Touro Medical Clinic

The Shade Tree Medical Clinic Expansion- also The Stallman Touro Medical Clinic provides “basic healthcare, acute care with the management of chronic illness, women’s health and the healthcare of the children who reside at the facility.” Phil Tobin, director of the School of Physician Assistant Studies at Touro and board chair at the Shade Tree, runs the facility.

The Shade Tree Medical Clinic Expansion

The clinic originally opened 10 years ago, operating out of a storage room, that did not even have a sink. Or privacy. That very much limited services.

The new facility/expansion now has a private consultation room, reception area,  3 exam bays, check in area and much needed nurses station. The expansion is 740 square foot. With the expansion, the clinic can now offer expanded services to the women and children escaping a violent environment. It also provides medical students additional learning opportunities.

12.12.2019-“This morning, we got to celebrate the expansion and remodel of our Stallman-Touro Medical Clinic! A big thank you to our community partners Touro Nevada, Tutor Perini Building Corperation, and The Stallman Family for continuing to support us by providing us with the resources to provide dignified medical care to the women and children that we serve.” SCA Design architecture firm donated their services to assist in the documentation of plans for the construction of the medical clinic.

Nevada Public Radio turned out for the ribbon cutting and shared how this expansion is “giving these women a choice.”
